Most travelers should allow 8–10 days for Yunnan and nearby experiences.

Yunnan extends a Chengdu journey into southwest China, or works as a deep-dive slow travel destination for returning visitors. It needs time – at least a week to do it justice.

Lijiang is at 2,400m; Shangri-La at 3,200m. Acclimatize gradually.
